Creating design and decor in a space can be tough, but I’ve partnered with Purple to bring you a guide for bringing harmony and peace to your bedroom. You’ve probably heard it before, “never underestimate the power of paint!” When selecting paint colors remember that warm colors evoke a sense of excitement and can induce anxiety in areas meant for relation. Alternatively, cool colors promote relaxation, which is why I recently painted the walls in our bedroom a cool greige with cool green undertones. I always recommend adding a rug beneath your bed to anchor the space and, yes, you absolutely can style a rug in a carpeted space! With decor and textiles I avoid colors that match too much and instead use bridging shades of the same colors. I find that by offering a different shade of the same color it helps these pieces to not compete and creates harmony in the space. For example, our upholstered bed from Purple is a dark stone gray so I styled the bed with accent pillows that have a lighter gray in the design. The design also includes a light beige, which doesn’t compete with the cognac leather pillow despite both being in the brown family. And what do you get when you mix gray and beige? Greige! Which really ties in well with the paint swatch I already shared with you! While warm tones in paint create excitement, in lighting this creates a cozy atmosphere. Be sure to consider this when selecting the degree of warmth in your light bulbs. It also helps to achieve visual interest in your space by avoiding matching sets of furniture and by combining contrasting elements and materials such as woods with metals or upholstery. You’ll notice in our bedroom I have the upholstered bed from Purple, which has wooden legs, next to our nightstands with metal legs. Keep in mind that upholstered or metal bed frames tend to leave you with more options for nightstands than a wood bed frame as many nightstands are also made of wood. Most importantly, finish your space with the new Harmony Pillow by Purple! It feels like you’re sleeping on a cloud and, if you tie it in with all of these recommendations, you’ll have such a harmonious and peaceful space!
